Our Mission & Vision

Our mission is to Collaborate with community groups to help foster kids succeed.  Our Vision is to change the dynamic in America from a pool of waiting children, to a pool of waiting parents.

Foster Awareness Network (F.A.N.) was formed for charitable and educational purposes to assist current and aged out foster kids. Our group is dedicated to raising awareness of the issues and collaborating with existing community groups to work on finding better solutions to foster care needs. The goal is to prepare these kids to have a better chance to succeed in life.

El Dorado County is relatively small and not heavily populated. We believe this gives us an advantage over other areas in that we know many of the people in decision making positions. In our research and meetings with various groups, they and we believe that this organization can raise awareness, network between groups to fill gaps and strengthen collaboration between all organizations and the efforts they produce.

Many of the foster care groups FAN met with have expressed that we have a unique opportunity in our community, as it is a microcosm. As such, we can work on solutions that, once successful may spread to other communities.

As indicated by the community support FAN has already enlisted to participate in the FAN/EDCOE (El Dorado County Office of Education) Symposium, it is clear that FAN can and will have a significant amount of public support for our programs and events to come. County officials, various foster care agencies and the community at large has urged our fight to consistently raise awareness, provide adult mentors to aged out former foster kids and network and partner with existing providers.

Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, provides tax exemption for groups organized and operated exclusively for the prevention of cruelty to children, relief to the poor, distressed or underprivileged and juvenile delinquency. Foster children fall into the above mentioned groups. By providing immediate resources and solutions to help these children, Foster Awareness Network is fulfilling a charitable purpose. By raising awareness to bring many potential foster families to care for these children who have been removed from their families, FAN will be working to give these children a better chance to succeed in life.
